Biography

Career
Son of Dario VETTORI (1903-1973), a former violinist and pupil of Primo Contavalli d'Imola. He served his apprenticeship with his father aged of twelve years and then with Giuseppe ORNATI.

Workshop
In 1959 he left his father's workshop and established himself in Florence as a luthier.

Works
His work is inspired by the Classic Italian school, his instruments are coated with a rich varnish of a yellow-amber color or a red-orange color.

Awards and medals
Along his professional career Carlo Vettori has won prizes in several competitions among them we find :
1956. Gold medal, aged of sixteen, at the Mostra del violino Antico e Moderno of Pegli Genova.
1957. Silver medal at the Mostra dell'Arti gianato di Firenze Silver medal at the "Mostra di Liuteria Moderna" in Ancona.
1958. Gold medal at the Mostra del violino Antico e Moderno of Pegli Genova, again.
1960. Vermeil medal at the Mostra del violino Antico e Moderno of Pegli Genova.
1962. Cash prize at the competition Giovani Liutaii A.N.L.A.I. in Roma.
1969. Cash prize in the "Concorso di Giovani Liutaii in Ascoli Pisceno.
1972. Silver Medal in the Rassegna di Lutheria di Bagnacavallo Ravenna.
1974. Silver and Gold medal in the Concorso di Luteria at Bagnacavallo Ravenna again.
1976. Silver medal in the Concorso di Luteria at Bagnacavallo Ravenna again.
1980. Gold medal at the Concorso de Il Violina d'Orao in Bagnacavallo again.
Expert of the Tribunal of Florence.
1985 Vice president of the A.N.L.A.I. Board of Experts

2001 Career award in Baveno.

Production
VETTORI's production of instruments of the violin family included 250 violins, 60 violas, 24 cellos, 4 quartets and a sextet.
Beside this production one can find various instruments as viole d'amore, viola da gamba, lutes, Hurdy-gurdy, guitars and guitars as well as modern an baroque bows.
