Biography

Career
DEBLAYE completed his apprenticeship in several Mirecourt workshops before ultimately joining GAUTIÈ’s  workshop
(or GAUTHIER), in Toulouse in 1896.

In 1900, he established his own workshop in Mirecourt, on Rue de la Sous-Prefecture
and was soon joined by H. MEUNIER, with whom he established the firm: A Deblaye et H Meunier.
Albert DEBLAYE was the Technical Director of this great workshop.

Circa 1918 he took over Léon MORTIN, inheriting trades marks belonging from VUILLAUME DARTE and CUNIN

With the death of Albert Deblaye in 1929, a major change occurred in his workshop . While quality hand made instruments were still produced, a second level of instruments was introduced . These instruments were made by machine and finished by hand.
