Son of Jean Joseph MARTIN, bowmaker, he probably started his apprenticeship with his father.
He then joined the workshop of
Georges DEROUX and Auguste DELIVET to complete his training.
Aged of 18, he came to Reims to work for the firm of Emile MENNESSON.
After having spent sometimes with Victor LECAVELLE in Béziers, he joined in 1883 the firm METZNER-LEBLANC at Angers where he stayed during 20 years, before taking it over in 1903.
He retired in 1919.

His workmanship is of first quality, his instruments coated with an attractive and rich varnish.
