Georges DUPUY belonged to a family of musicians, his father being involved in te violin trade. He completed his apprenticeship under Marcel VATELOT in Paris before joining the workshop of Charles BRUGÈRE in Mirecourt.
DUPUY then returned to his father's workshop in Paris, located at 4 rue Demours des Ternes.
He then married
Eugène SARTORY's daughter.
In 1939, he moved his workshop to 50 rue de Rome and began specializing in the production of string quartet instruments.

Collaborators and Successors
DUPUY’s son Philippe, born in Paris in 1932, took over his father's workshop and continued the tradition of this famous firm.
