Birth : 1864 in Burley (Lancashire) England. Death : 1933 in Brixham (Devon) England.

Thomas SIMPSON trained initially as a piano repairer and worked in Walsall near Birmingham and spent the larger part of his life in the Birmingham area, where his reputation was very high as a repairer and maker of instruments of the violin family. Later in life,(1925) he moved to Brixham (Devon) where he carried on making stringed instruments. His instruments, perhaps not all that refined in details of execution, none the less display a good knowledge of what matters in terms of tonal quality.
