Birth : 1870 in Mirecourt (Vosges) Death : 1943 in Paris (Ile de France)

Son of Louis CHERPITEL, a violin maker, Georges CHERPITEL served his apprenticeship in Mirecourt, working during a time at J. THIBOUVILLE LAMY firm, before joining the COUESNON firm in Paris around 1896.
In 1901, at the death of Maurice MERMILLOT, Georges CHERPITEL became the director of COUESNON's workshop.

While only a limited production can be attributed to this maker, the majority of instruments bearing Georges CHERPITEL's label are typical of the production of COUESNON's workshop.
