Summary

Charles Claude FETIQUE was the founder of a large family involved in bow and violin making.
Two of his sons, Victor and Jules FETIQUE, were among the greatest bows makers of their time. Marcel FETIQUE, Victor's son, also extended his family's fame by becoming a bow maker as well.
The two others sons of Charles Claude FETIQUE, Louis and André Louis, became violin makers. His only daughter, Marie Augustine married Louis Justin RICHAUME with whom she had three children. Among them was André RICHAUME, who earned a great reputation as a bow maker.

Biography

Career
Charles Claude FETIQUE served his apprenticeship under Paul BAILLY before joining the Thibouville and Laberte firms. Some violins, made for these workshops, can be found with Charles 's signature on the inside top or back. One can also find some instruments bearing Charles FETIQUE's own label.
