Career
In 1839 Nicolas Vuillaume married Darte's mother, Rosalie ZOEGGER, thus becoming Darte's stepfather.
Auguste Darte served his apprenticeship under Nicolas Vuillaume in Mirecourt.
After joining the Parisian workshop of Jean-Baptiste VUILLAUME for a brief period, Auguste DARTE returned to Mirecourt to become the collaborator of Nicolas Vuillaume.
In 1865 Auguste DARTE succeeded Nicolas Vuillaume, perpetuating the production of this great worksop and its well-known Stentor violins.
When Auguste Darte ceased his activity, the "Stentor" brand was sold to the firm GAUTROT.
