Career
Mihàly (Michael) Reményi began his apprenticeship aged of 14 in 1881, under Eduard BARTEK, brother-in-law and pupil of NEMESSÀNY.
In 1883, after the early death of BARTEK, he went to Gyögy (Georges)TANCZER where he passed his journeyman's examination on  Sept. 2,  1885.
Meanwhile he also studied violin playing.
in 1886 he joined the workshop of Sandor (Alexander) FERENCZY for one year and then Paul PILÀT's workshop.
In 1890 Mihàly  REMENYI married and established himself in Budapest.
In 1902 Mihàly REMENYI founded "The Reményi Award", a music competition which stands every two years at the Academic of Music, whose winner was granted a master violin made by Reményi. This competition lasted until the 1949/50 edition.
