Birth : 1836 in Mirecourt (Vosges) Death : 1903 in Béziers (Hérault)

With thanks to Roland Terrier's research there is no longer any doubt about the genealogy of Victor LECAVELLÉ.
Victor LECAVELLÉ is the son of Florent François Xavier LECAVELLÉ, violin maker from Mirecourt (1)
Victor LECAVELLÉ  served his apprenticeship in Mirecourt under his father's guidance for five years (2) before joining the workshop of Gand Frères around 1855.
Contrarily to  a number of sources there is no reliable references to any collaboration with BERNARDEL Père, while one can find a proud mention of his passage to GAND Frères workshop on the professional letter paper LECAVALLÉ used during his Beziers period.
In 1856 Victor LECAVALLÉ left Paris to Nîmes where he stayed until 1863, before opening his own workshop in Beziers in that year. (1)
While in Beziers,Victor LECAVELLÉ, as many provincial violin makers of his time, diversified his activity including pianos, horns, winds, brass, flutes, guitars.
