Birth : 1891 in Nancy (Lorraine) Death : 1970 in Saint Rémy (Sâone et Loire)

Louis GILLET served his apprenticeship in Mirecourt before joining Jérôme THIBOUVILLE LAMY’s workshops.
By the end of first world war he had moved to Marc LABERTE's workshops before finally establishing his own workshop in Nancy, after 1924.
GILLET'S collaboration with Eugène SARTORY began in 1934 and will last until SARTORY death in 1946. His own style was strongly influenced by this collaboration.
At SARTORY's death, GILLET began working for Georges DUPUY, a Parisian maker the son in Law of E. SARTORY.
GILLET's style became more elegant by the end of his life, a period during which he produced more ivory and tortoiseshell-gold mounted bows.
