Also known as the Modern Tourte.


He was the brother of Joseph VOIRIN.
Aged of 12, he served his apprenticeship in Mirecourt, with Jean SIMON, brother of Nicolas SIMON, also known as SIMON FR.
In 1855, he joined the workshop of Jean-Baptiste VUILLAUME where he succeeded Nicolas MALINE.
In 1870, he settled on his own in Paris.

Two main collaborators entered the workshop of François Nicolas VOIRIN
- LAMY Alfred Joseph in 1876.
- THOMASSIN Louis Joseph in 1872
At the death of F.N. VOIRIN in 1885, Louis THOMASSIN stayed with his widow to assist her in the running of the workshop until 1891.
