After his apprenticeship in Mirecourt, Charles Adolphe MAUCOTEL joined Jean-Baptiste VUILLAUME's workshop in Paris in 1839, at the age of nineteen.
Charles Adolphe MAUCOTEL remained with J.B. VUILLAUME for 5 years, becoming his main collaborator (1)
In 1844, Charles Adolphe MAUCOTEL established his own workshop in the Galerie Vivienne in Paris.
In 1852 his workshop was located on rue Croix des Petits Champs before ultimately moving to rue Princesse.
According to William HENLEY, Charles Adolphe MAUCOTEL died in 1858 by committing suicide.(2)

- 1844 Bronze Medal for a viola at the National Paris Exhibition (3)
- 1855 Medal of second class at the International Paris Exhibition.(3)
