Biography

Career
Son of Charles AUDINOT, a master violin maker himself, Victor AUDINOT was trained by François CHARDIN and Télesphore BARBÉ.
First settled in MIRECOURT, he moved in 1913 to Paris.

Works
Victor AUDINOT was a gifted craftsman who gained a good reputation with his copies of the decorated Hellier Stradivarius. This production, regular and high quality form part of a movement that will see luthiers during the first half of the twentieth century free themselves from the models of the great houses of the late nineteenth century. Violin making becomes strongly marked by a personal vision which can compete alongside Italian luthiers at international competitions.

The instruments of Roger & Max MILLANT, alongside Victor AUDINOT are among the best representatives of this trend, and it is interesting to note that two of Victor’s sons, Paul and Pierre were to become associates of this most important workshop.

Workshop
AUDINOT established his own workshop in MIRECOURT before moving to Paris in 1913, to establish his own workshop on 43, rue Truffaut.

Partenaires et successeurs
Victor Audinot trained many luthiers, including his six sons. Five of them worked with him:
AUDINOT Paul (until 1922)
AUDINOT Pierre  (1913 à 1921 – 1919 à 1931)
AUDINOT Marcel (until 1924)
AUDINOT Charles
