Career
Charles LOTTE, luthier, was born in MIRECOURT on November 4, 1873.
His family had been active in instrument making for multiple generations.
While his father and grandfather were organ builders, his great grandfather was a serinette (barrel organ) maker.
In 1896, he married Aline J. MAUCOTEL. Their two sons, Maurice L., and Robert Ch. LOTTE remained in MIRECOURT, where they, like their father, became Luthiers(1).

There are few known examples from this maker.
The work of Charles LOTTE as referenced by the example in our archives, is typical of the production of MIRECOURT in the first half of the 20th century.
