Biography

Son of and pupil of Georges DEROUX, Sebastien Auguste was born in MIRECOURT on June 29, 1848. In 1861, he began his apprenticeship in his father's workshop. In 1866, he left MIRECOURT to join his nephew SILVESTRE in Lyon, but left in 1869 to fulfill his military service. (1)

In November 1873, he joined the workshop of Claude Augustin MIREMONT in Paris, where he took the position of workshop manager. Vidal tells us about this collaboration: "During the eleven consecutive years that Mr. Deroux spent at Miremont as the head worker, he contributed greatly to the prosperity of his master's company through his skilled and intelligent collaboration, and when in 1884 he started his own business, the clientele followed him with interest in his new venture."   In 1884, when MIREMONT retired from business, Sebastien Auguste established his workshop at 16 Rue Geoffroy-Marie, in the 9th arrondissement. He kept this address until the end of his professional career.
