Biography

Son and pupil of Albert JACQUOT, Fernand JACQUOT learned to play the violin as a schoolboy.
From a very young age, he attended his grandfather’s and father’s workshop where he developed his affinity for violin making.

Upon completion of his studies, Fernand spent three years as an apprentice in MIRECOURT, first with George FREBINET, and then with Léon MOUGENOT, whose influence would later be visible in his work. Once his apprenticeship was over, he joined his father’s workshop to complete his training.

Fernand was as much interested in the restoration of old instruments as in the construction of new ones. In 1905, in his first participation in an International exhibition, he was awarded a gold medal as a collaborator at Liege(1).

In 1910, he married Germaine Colliere (2) and in 1912 (not 1925 as indicated by Henley), he succeeded his father.

Fernand JACQUOT stopped his activity prematurely in 1925.
