Biography

Grandson of the violinist Carlo Blanchi, born in Peille in 1777 (1), Albert BLANCHI is the son of Augustin BLANCHI, luthier born in Peille-Poglia, pupil of Pierre PACHEREL.
First trained as a violinist, Albert BLANCHI learns violin making in his father's workshop and succeeds him in 1899.
Albert BLANCHI is said to have died in 1948 and not in 1942 as indicated by René VANNES. (2)

Works

Albert BLANCHI mainly produces violins (about 500) and cellos (about 60). Some guitars and mandolins bear his label, but are made for amateurs. (3)
His work is appreciated both by musicians and collectors.
