Biography

Career
The son and pupil of Louis GAILLARD, Charles GAILLARD joined the workshop  of Charles Adolphe GAND in Paris as a collaborator. He later became GAND's first assistant.

Workshop
In 1851, Charles GAILLARD established his own workshop in Paris at 15 Rue Poissonière before moving, c. 1860, to 20 Rue Notre Dame de Recouvrance.

Label & stamp
Beside his printed label, on which the two last digits of the date are added in ink, as well as in some cases the instrument number, one can find :
- date, number, address in pencil to the inside back or top.
- stamp "CHARLES GAILLARD A PARIS" to the inside back and top.
